FAQs
The City of Jacksonville is the commercial hub of Onslow County and home to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune
Camp Lejeune is a Marine Corps base camp training facility located in Eastern North Carolina. It supports Marine Corps commands, a Navy command, and a Coast Guard command. This “Home of Expeditionary Forces in Readiness” is home to the largest concertation of Marines and sailors in the world.
Water contamination at Camp Lejeune was caused by spills or leaks from underground storage tanks, waste disposal sites, businesses, and more. Several Volatile Organic Compounds were found in the drinking water, including dry-cleaning solvents, degreasers, and nearly 70 other hazardous chemicals.
Exposure to contaminated water can occur in several ways. Four of the main ways include: drinking water, bathing, using contaminated water to clean, cooking with tainted water.
Congress has recently passed a Camp Lejeune Justice Act, meaning it will soon likely be passed by the Senate and President. This will allow victims, who meet qualifying criteria, to pursue legal action. This act will initiate a mass tort lawsuit in the U.S District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. Please complete the survey to see if you qualify, and our legal team will get to work on collecting the necessary documents and evidence to present your case.
Currently, it is too soon to estimate what a typical settlement amount may be. If the Camp Lejeune Justice Act passes more detailed information on payments will become available over time.
Exact settlement amounts will vary by individual case and would be based upon proximity and time spent on the base, injuries sustained, medical diagnosis, financial impact, emotional damages, and more.
